Madagascar fin flash

[Madagascar fin flash] by António Martins, 22 Jun 2004

L'Armée de l'Air Malagache (the army of the Malagasy Republic) uses a square variant of the national flag with the white band takes half of the square. The national flag of red and wite for the Hova tribe and green for the Indian Ocean was used as a fin flash, and in roundel form on wings and fuselage. Often only the fin flash is used.

Madagascar roundel

[Madagascar roundel] by Paige Herring 1 January 1999

Aircraft Marking.
Green-red-white roundel with thin yellow border around it.
The national flag is painted on the fin, says a note.
[cos98] showes the fin as square version of the national flag, as on Dov's image corrently on FOTW, and says that often the roundel is absent and only the flag on fin is painted.
Zeljko Heimer, 21 May 2002

I don't consider the yellow border as part of the roundel.
It seems that l'Armee de l'Air Malgache (formed 24 April 1961) used either only a square fin flash (also with yellow borders (see this page) or only the roundel (see image on this page).
